Shoes On Shoes Off

Conceptualized and Choreographed by

Susan Dibble

with Brandeis Theatre Company

Performed at Brandeis Spingold Mainstage

April 2016

This piece was inspired by Susan's visit to the Michelson Family's Shoe stores in Needham and Lexington Massachusettes. Everything starts in a "Shoe graveyard" which turns into the Shoe Salesman's store. Then, we meet different characters that find their shoes. In the rest of the piece, we get to know the characters through diverse styles of dances. At the very end, the dancers box their own shoes and we return to a shoe graveyard. This  quite an abstract show that really just celebrated dance.

Susan, your imagination was certainly a fun ride - thank you for having me on this journey and always creating answers to questions we faced. Thank you again Mary Hurd - it was such a joy to be working with you again. Thanks Jeff Adelberg for beautiful set and lighting and of course, the chocolate chip cookies.
